Application: Quotation review for an endless guided timing belt with a high-friction back cover
Component Type: 585H600 black rubber timing belt, black K8 center guide and 1/8-inch red rough-top cover
The Core Issue: The photograph showed the general belt arrangement, but the quotation required the belt code, center guide, cover thickness and commercial terms to be confirmed separately.
1. The Customer Quotation Request
The customer asked TRANDVOX to quote the price, minimum order quantity and delivery for a replacement belt shown in an attached photograph. The written requirement specified an endless 585H600 black rubber timing belt with a black K8 center guide and a 1/8-inch-thick red rough-top cover.
The request combined one standard belt designation with two fabrication details, so the quotation had to record the base belt, center guide and back cover as separate line items.
2. Converting the Description Into a Quote Specification
| Item | Customer Requirement |
|---|---|
| Base belt | Endless 585H600 black rubber timing belt |
| Guide | Black K8 center guide |
| Guide position | Centered on the tooth side |
| Cover | Red rough-top cover |
| Specified cover thickness | 1/8 inch |
| Commercial request | Price, minimum order quantity and delivery |
| Reference information | Customer wording and attached photograph |
3. What the Customer Photo Confirmed

The image confirmed the relationship between the black toothed belt body and the red back cover. It also showed that the surface texture was an important part of the replacement. However, the viewing angle did not provide reliable scale for the K8 profile or measurable evidence for the 1/8-inch cover thickness. The 585H600 designation came from the customer’s written requirement, not from photo-based tooth-profile identification.
The requested black guide was therefore kept as a written quotation requirement. Reference photographs showing a guide in another color can help communicate position or form, but they should not override the customer’s stated color and profile.
4. Reviewing the Guide and Cover Separately
The main timing belt fabrication question was not the base belt alone. The K8 guide had to follow the belt centerline, while the red rough-top cover had to be treated as a defined layer rather than a general surface description.
The phrase 1/8-inch thick should also be clarified during quotation: does it describe the finished cover after bonding or the nominal cover material before processing? Keeping that point explicit reduces the risk of two visually similar belts being quoted with different finished constructions.

5. Points to Confirm Before Price and Delivery
Before finalizing the quotation, the review should confirm the following points:
- The complete 585H600 belt designation and required endless construction
- Finished belt width and quantity
- K8 guide geometry, material, black color and true center position
- Whether the red rough-top cover runs across the full belt width
- Whether 1/8 inch is the required finished cover thickness
- Any cover-free or guide-free area required near a splice or reference point
- Delivery destination and requested shipping method

7. Quote Preparation and Buyer Value
After the open specification points were listed, the inquiry could move to price, minimum order quantity and delivery review without treating the reference photograph as the controlling specification.
For the buyer, the main value of this review was not simply matching the colors in the photograph. It was translating one product description into distinct quotation items so that a visually similar but structurally different belt would be less likely to be supplied.
8. Quotation Notes for Similar Guided Belts
For similar quotation reviews, list the base belt, center guide and back cover as separate specification items before confirming quantity and delivery.
